A man accused of shooting an Oklahoma City police officer and then barricading himself inside a home is in jail, police said.

Police said John Ivory Thomas, 55, surrendered to police at about 6:35 p.m., nearly 11 hours after a standoff began at 3017 NE 9th St.
Police said they used several techniques to get Thomas to surrender.
"Gas was deployed to get him out. We also pleaded with him by using a blow horn and telephone until he finally gave up," said Sgt. Paco Balderrama.
Thomas is accused of shooting a 19-year veteran of the Oklahoma City police force as he investigated a domestic disturbance at about 7:45 a.m., authorities said.
Sgt. Clay Williams, 47, was taken to OU Medical Center after suffering wounds near his collarbone and was released late Thursday afternoon. Williams has been with the Oklahoma City Police Department since 1989.
Eyewitness News 5's Amanda Guerra talked with Williams' son, Clay Williams II.
"He's doing pretty good. He's talking, kind of relaxed. He's joking with people. When the feel-good juice wears off, he might feel it. But, he's doing pretty good," Williams II said.
He added that, at first, his father's fellow officers weren't sure if the person shot was indeed Williams.
"He said that he had been shot, and everyone was trying to figure out if it was actually him because he sounded too calm. But, yes, that's the way he works," Williams II said.
As for the calm his father displayed, Williams II said, "Yes, it runs in the family."
Authorities blocked several streets in the area during the day, and non-essential personnel were moved away for safety reasons. Police said Thomas would periodically fire a weapon from the home.
Thomas has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and violating a victim protective order, police said.
